COVID-19 update

Good news! As of today, all regions of Quebec are entering the green zone, which means more restrictions have been loosened:

  • 20 people are allowed to assemble outside on private property
  • 20 people can sit together at restaurants

As always, please continue to follow public health guidelines, like wearing a mask and washing your hands when needed.

If you haven't already done so, please click here to advance your appointment for your second dose of your COVID-19 shot. Having a fully-vaccinated population is the only way we can finally beat this virus.

Happy Canada Day!

On Thursday, Canadians from coast-to-coast will be celebrating our 154th anniversary of Confederation. Canada has grown into a shining example of a country that is free, diverse and welcoming. Our riding is a perfect example of this, where people from so many different cultures and ethnicities cohabitate peacefully.

Over the past couple of weeks, in Kamloops and now in the Cowessess First Nation, I was deeply saddened by the discovery of hundreds of unmarked graves of victims of our residential school system. While incredibly disturbing, these discoveries come as no surprise to the countless Indigenous people across Canada who witnessed the brutality and abuse of the residential school system first-hand.

Our government is committed to the continued reconciliation efforts with our First Nations, however, these discoveries serve as a reminder that much work still needs to be done to address the historic injustices and inequalities Indigenous people face every day.

As we celebrate Canada Day this Thursday, let's remember that this country has a dark history founded on colonialism and oppression. We must reflect on the mistakes we've made as a country and recommit ourselves to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.

Criminalization of Conversion Therapy

There is no place for conversion therapy in Canada. Canadians asked us to criminalize this destructive, harmful, and deadly practice and we delivered. The House of Commons has passed our legislation to criminalize conversion therapy and we are proud to see it moved to the Senate.

Unfortunately, more than half of the Conservative caucus voted against this bill, demonstrating yet again that Erin O’Toole cannot be trusted to stand up to the social conservatives in his caucus. While Erin O’Toole Conservatives keep failing LGBTQ2 Canadians, we will continue to stand up for them and their rights.

Quatre-Vents shoreline

A sharp increase in traffic and inappropriate behaviour have been noted in recent weeks at the Quatre-Vents shoreline in Laval West. The City is therefore reminding users of the regulations in effect and the purpose of the site. Security will be reinforced on the site to ensure the peace of mind of the neighbourhood and a positive experience for all.

In accordance with by-law L-4510 concerning order, safety and the opening and closing hours of municipal parks, the following actions are prohibited

  • Swimming
  • Consumption of alcoholic beverages
  • The use of loudspeakers to play music
  • Lighting of fires

Please note that the consumption of cannabis is also prohibited, in accordance with the provisions of the Provincial Cannabis Act.
