COVID-19 Update

Starting today, Laval has changed to the yellow alert level. This means that there are even more relaxed public health measures:

  • Indoor private gatherings, with a maximum of 2 households.
  • Tele-work is no longer mandatory, but still is recommended.
  • Universities can hold the majority of their classes face-to-face.
  • Bars are open to indoor seating.
  • 250 people allowed in places of worship.
  • Brief-contact sports allowed in groups of 12.

Of course, all loosened restrictions are subject to different conditions. Please click here for more information.

Canada Day Video

To celebrate Canada Day, I will be putting together a video showcasing members of the Vimy community, and our love for Canada. The video will be shared on my Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts on Canada Day. To be a part of this video celebration, record a video of yourself and/or with your family no longer than 10 seconds, answering the question; What does Canada Day mean to you? Once you have recorded your video, upload it to the Dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/7b7k11qncw3dcj6/AAAlke8i0DozwKvT8lbdS8fba?dl=0

Please send your video to the Dropbox by Friday, June 25 if you wish to be included in the final video.

Additional instructions for taking the video:

  • Film the video in landscape (horizontal) mode.
  • Make your video using an HD video quality (720p or higher).
  • Make sure that the audio is clear and that there is not too much background noise.
  • Film the video in a well-lit setting.
  • Ideally, have someone else record you rather than filming yourself.
  • Do not include any profane or other inappropriate language.
  • Feel free to speak in any language you wish. If it is not in English or French, please provide a written translation so we can include it in the video.

Reshare my Canada Day video

Be sure to view and reshare the final version of my Canada Day video when it is posted on July 1st. You can view the video on my social media accounts included below:

Vaccination update

Thanks to the tireless work of frontline health workers and public health officials, Canada’s vaccination campaign continues to move quickly. With nearly 73% of eligible Canadians having received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, we’ve surpassed our fellow G20 and G7 countries for share of the population that has received at least one dose – and millions of more doses are on their way! Canada is leading the world in COVID-19 vaccinations!

This is incredible news, because the more people get their shots, the closer we get to the end of this crisis and to normal life – from being able to have dinner with friends to finally attending a live concert.

The best vaccine is the first vaccine you can get, so don’t delay getting your first or second doses as soon as you are eligible. Regardless if you’ve received your shot or not, it’s important to remain vigilant, follow local public health advice and maintain the practices that keep us all safe, including practicing physical distancing and wearing a two- or three-layer mask. Working together, we can end this pandemic.
