My Week in the House

I am proud to have voted for the advancement of Bill C-19, which provides for temporary rules to ensure the safe administration of an election in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our government's number 1 priority has always been the safety of Canadians, and this bill continues to deliver on this promise. If there ever is an election during the pandemic, this bill ensures that Canadians can exercise their democratic right to vote while staying safe and healthy.

In the Finance committee, I had the opportunity to question Minister Freeland on the Budget Implementation Act. This bill will implement several aspects of Budget 2021. This Budget makes historic investments in the middle class and ensures that the Canadian economy is prepared for a post-pandemic future. COVID-19 Vaccination

As of last Friday, every Quebecer aged 18 and older is eligible for a vaccine. This has been an incredible logistical challenge and is a testament to the partnership our government has forged with the Quebec government.

Our government has worked hard since the beginning of the pandemic to procure vaccines for Canadians - this is the only way we can beat this virus. Canada is now first in the G20 for daily doses administered per capita and we are third in the G7 for the amount of doses administered overall per capita.

Everyone needs to get vaccinated as soon as possible. If we want to have a chance at a great summer, all Canadians need to join our collective efforts to reach herd immunity. Not only will the vaccines protect you, but they will protect those you love and care for as well.

Public consultation for downtown Laval

As part of the planning process for its downtown area, Ville de Laval adopted the draft special planning program (PPU) on May 4. Citizens and organizations are invited to read the document and share their comments in order to improve it before the final version is adopted in the coming months.

This planning exercise is a unique opportunity to provide Laval, the 3rd largest city in Quebec, with a strong and attractive center that is consistent with the needs and aspirations of all Laval residents. To participate in the May 26 public consultation, you must register online.

Support for our airports

The air sector has been hard hit by the pandemic. Last week, our government announced 2 new programs:

In addition, we are providing a top-up of $186 million of the existing Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP) to support airports across the country. We are here to support every aspect of the air sector, including airports, to recover from the effects of the pandemic and be ready when full recovery in air sector comes.
