COVID-19 Vaccination

As of today, almost 16 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to Canadians. Our government has worked tirelessly to procure as many vaccines as possible to ensure that we get as many Canadians vaccinated as soon as possible.

In Quebec, vaccinations will open for everyone 18 years or older this Friday. This means that, starting at 8am on May 14, all adult Quebecers will be eligible to make an appointment for their first vaccine.

Vaccines are safe and effective at combatting the virus. They are our greatest hope to returning back to normal. Everyone should get a vaccine - it not only protects you, but it protects your friends and family as well.

Raising Awareness on ZEVs

Last week, on behalf of the Minister of Natural Resources, I announced a combined investment of $100,000 for two organizations to run ZEV (zero-emission vehicle) awareness campaigns.

Half will go to the Fondation québécoise d'éducation en securité routière, which will provide information on eco-responsible driving and the benefits of electric vehicles to young Quebecers. The other half will go to Recharge Véhicule Électrique which will provide residents of multi-unit buildings with tools to prepare for the arrival of EVs.

These investments are provided through our government's Zero-Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative, which complements our bold climate plan

Census Reminder

By law, all Canadians are required to complete their Census of Population. It's quick, easy, confidential and will ensure that resources are allocated to Canadians who need them the most. You have received your code to access the online form by mail, and must do so by May 11.

Cyber Security

With the digital economy continuing to grow rapidly, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, cyber security is an ever-increasing concern for Canadians and businesses. A strong cyber security sector will cement Canadians’ trust in the digital economy.

Last week, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, launched the new Cyber Security Innovation Network program. This program is being launched with an investment of $80 million over four years.

The program will fund the creation of a national network composed of multiple centres of expertise on cyber security that are affiliated with post-secondary institutions from across Canada, in collaboration with partners in the private sector, not-for-profits, provincial/territorial/municipal governments and other Canadian post-secondary institutions.

This announcement supports the principles set out in Canada’s Digital Charter.

End of alternative parking

As of winter 2021-2022, seasonal alternating parking will be a thing of the past for Laval residents. The proposed new approach is to apply alternating parking only when maintenance operations are underway to ensure quality snow removal and safe streets.

From May to October 2021, seasonal signage will be enhanced with the words "During Maintenance Operations" and a telephone number. It will also be possible to subscribe to automated calls, and other means (notifications by text message, email or through the Neige Laval application) will make it possible to know the status of parking on a given street from October 1 to April 30.
